Business Analyst – Treasury / CTRM Systems
Location: Kochi, Kerala, India | Employment: Full-Time | Experience: 5-8+ Years Role
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support the design and implementation of a modern Treasury Management System (TMS). The role will work closely with Treasury, Operations, Finance, Risk, Product, Engineering and QA to translate business processes into clear, testable and implementable system requirements. Prior implementation experience with a Treasury Management System is highly desirable. Candidates with strong implementation experience in CTRM/ETRM, trading, brokerage, clearing, payments or other transaction-heavy financial platforms will also be considered. The intent is for the successful candidate to support the Treasury programme initially and then contribute to other trading and operational system initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Gather, analyse and document business and functional requirements for Treasury and related trading-system capabilities.
Work with business stakeholders to understand current processes, challenge gaps and define practical future-state workflows.
Create clear user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, process flows, business rules and data requirements.
Define transaction lifecycles including statuses, approvals, validations, exceptions, reversals and audit requirements.
Analyse and document treasury processes such as client receipts and withdrawals, bank and clearer movements, margin/collateral flows, payments, cash balances, interest, reconciliation and exception management.
Support requirements around client-money segregation, House vs client funds, maker/checker controls and account-routing rules.
Work with developers and architects to clarify system behaviour, APIs, integrations, data models and non-happypath scenarios.
Collaborate with frontend teams on practical transaction screens, workflows, data grids, dashboards and approval interfaces.
Work with QA on test scenarios, defect triage, UAT and release readiness. Maintain traceability from business requirement through story, implementation and testing.
Support subsequent analysis across CTRM/ETRM, trading, risk, operations and related platform areas as the programme expands.
Required Experience & Skills
5-8+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst working on enterprise or transaction-heavy systems.
Strong experience translating complex business processes into concise, implementable requirements.
Excellent user-story, acceptance-criteria, process-flow and functional-specification skills.
Good understanding of transaction processing, workflow/state management, approvals, reconciliations and auditability.
Ability to analyse data flows, system states, dependencies, integration points and edge cases.
Comfortable working directly with engineering, QA, Product and business stakeholders.
Good technical awareness of APIs, relational databases, integrations and role-based access control.
Strong problem solving, attention to financial accuracy and ability to challenge incomplete requirements.
Preferred Domain Experience
Strong preference will be given to candidates with implementation experience in one or more of the following: Treasury Management Systems (TMS) – strongly preferred
CTRM / ETRM implementation
Commodity or financial trading platforms, including paper trading
Brokerage, clearing or margin/collateral systems
Payments, banking or cash-management platforms
Trade lifecycle, settlement, reconciliation or financial ledger systems
Useful Treasury / Trading Knowledge
Client vs House accounts and segregated vs non-segregated funds Bank and clearer accounts, margin calls and collateral movements Initial Margin / Variation Margin and P&L-driven funding workflows Client receipts, withdrawals and payment approvals Reconciliation, audit trails, effective dating and reversals Maker/checker controls, exception handling and operational controls Trade lifecycle concepts and downstream impacts across risk, operations and accounting
Technical Awareness
The BA does not need to be a developer, but should be comfortable discussing REST APIs, React-based user interfaces, Python backend services, relational databases, event-driven processing, external integrations and authentication/RBAC with engineering teams.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who does more than document what users ask for. The ideal candidate understands the business objective, challenges inconsistent requirements, thinks through end-to-end impacts, identifies missing controls and edge cases, and produces specifications that developers can implement without having to infer the underlying business intent.
What Success Looks Like
Developers receive clear, unambiguous and testable requirements. Business users understand the proposed solution before development begins. Workflow, control, accounting and operational implications are considered upfront. Fewer defects arise from misunderstood or incomplete requirements. The BA can move from Treasury into later CTRM/ETRM and trading-system work with minimal ramp-up.
