About the Role
We are looking for a skilled QA Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team and take ownership of testing activities across web applications, APIs, and automated test suites.

The role involves working throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure product quality through a combination of manual testing, UI automation, API testing, database validation, regression testing, and continuous quality improvement.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Playwright or a similar modern automation framework and be comfortable working with APIs, SQL, Git, and Agile development practices.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyse business requirements, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify functional, integration, regression, and edge-case scenarios during requirement analysis.
• Prepare test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop and maintain UI automation using Playwright.
• Build reliable and maintainable automated tests for critical user journeys.
• Perform API testing and validation using tools such as Postman and automation frameworks.
• Validate API request/response structure, status codes, business rules, permissions, and data integrity.
• Contribute to API/contract testing where applicable.
• Perform database validation using SQL.

• Analyse automation failures and identify whether failures are caused by application defects, test issues, data issues, or environment problems.
• Maintain and improve existing automation suites to reduce flaky and duplicate tests.
• Execute and analyse automated tests through CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in release and regression activities and provide clear QA status and risk assessment.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution.
• Perform root-cause analysis for recurring or high-impact defects.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, business analysts, and other QA engineers.
• Review pull requests and contribute feedback related to testability and quality where applicable.
• Maintain testing documentation, automation assets, test data, and reports.
• Contribute to improving QA processes, automation coverage, and release quality.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and sprint activities.

Required Skills
• 2–4 years of experience in software quality assurance/testing.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, STLC, and Agile practices.
• Strong experience in functional and exploratory testing.
• Hands-on experience in UI test automation.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or equivalent modern automation frameworks.
• Good knowledge of API testing.
• Good knowledge of SQL and database validation.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Good understanding of Git and source-control practices.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
• Ability to analyse automation failures and troubleshoot test issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience with API automation and contract testing.
• Experience with Postman/Newman or similar tools.
• Experience with pytest or equivalent test frameworks.
• Experience with performance testing using JMeter or similar tools.
• Understanding of browser compatibility testing.
• Experience working with cloud/SaaS applications.
• Exposure to AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Understanding of test data management and environment configuration.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing or intelligent test generation.
• Experience with containerized or CI/CD-based test execution.

Quality Engineering Expectations
• Treat automation as a product, not merely a collection of scripts.
• Prioritize stable, maintainable, reusable, and meaningful automated tests.

• Avoid unnecessary duplication between manual and automated coverage.
• Ensure critical workflows have appropriate automated regression coverage.
• Contribute to quality gates within the development and release process.
• Identify quality risks early rather than only finding defects during regression.
• Continuously improve test coverage, execution speed, reliability, and maintainability.

Growth Path
The QA Engineer is expected to progress toward owning complete modules or product areas, designing automation solutions, contributing to QA architecture decisions, mentoring junior engineers, and taking greater responsibility for release quality.
