Software Engineer – Frontend (React)

Location: Trivandrum, Kerala (work from office)

About the role

Edstem Technologies is looking for Frontend Software Engineers to build fast, accessible, high-quality web applications using React. You’ll work closely with designers, backend engineers and product teams to turn ideas into polished user experiences. AI-assisted development with Claude is part of how we work every day, so you’ll be expected to use it as a core part of your engineering workflow.

Key responsibilities

Build new user-facing features using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
Turn designs and wireframes (Figma or similar) into clean, pixel-accurate, responsive code
Build reusable components and front-end libraries for use across projects
Use Claude (Claude Code or the Claude app) to speed up coding, refactoring, debugging, test writing and documentation, while staying responsible for the quality and correctness of the code
Integrate with RESTful APIs and WebSocket services
Optimize components for performance across browsers and devices
Write unit and integration tests and help keep code quality high
Participate in code reviews, including reviews of AI-generated code, and give constructive feedback
Work with team members and stakeholders to deliver the best user experience
Keep up with emerging front-end technologies and AI-assisted development practices

Required skills and experience

3–7 years of front-end development experience, with at least 3 years in React
Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
Solid experience with React hooks, component design and state management (Redux / Redux Toolkit or similar)
Working knowledge of TypeScript
Hands-on experience coding with Claude, such as generating and refactoring code, writing tests, debugging and reviewing output critically
Experience with RESTful APIs and WebSocket services
Deep understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
Familiarity with modern build tools and pipelines (Vite, Webpack, Babel, ESLint)
Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
Experience with testing tools such as Jest and React Testing Library
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Good to have

Experience with Next.js or server-side rendering
Knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG) and performance tooling (Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals)
Experience with CSS frameworks or styling approaches (Tailwind, Styled Components, Material UI)
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment

Location and language

Candidates from Kerala are strongly preferred
Must be able to work from Trivandrum
Strong English communication skills along with fluency in Malayalam (spoken) is preferred.
