Job Title: Senior Consultant – Disaster Recovery (Database)

The Opportunity

At EY, our Consulting practice combines strategy, technology, and operations to help clients modernize, optimize, and build resilient database platforms. You will work with global clients to design, implement, and support mission-critical database environments while enabling cloud transformation, high availability, and disaster recovery capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with clients to understand business and recovery requirements and translate them into database solutions.
• Provide advisory on database modernization, cloud adoption, HA, and DR strategies.
• Design, implement, and manage Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and other database platforms.
• Perform installation, upgrades, migrations, patching, and performance tuning.
• Manage backup, recovery, high availability, security, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Configure and support Data Guard, Always-On, replication, clustering, log shipping, and similar technologies.
• Develop and maintain DR plans, recovery runbooks, recovery procedures, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in DR assessments, DR drills, failover testing, and recovery readiness validation.
• Support cloud migration initiatives, including DR architecture and recovery design.
• Troubleshoot complex database, failover, and recovery issues.
• Develop HA/DR frameworks, best practices, accelerators, and reusable assets.
• Support proposal development, solutioning, and client presentations.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of database administration and engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Good understanding of HA, DR, backup/recovery, and operational resilience concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Data Guard, Always-On, replication, clustering, log shipping, and other DR technologies.
• Experience developing DR plans, recovery runbooks, recovery procedures, and supporting DR testing and validation activities.
• Exposure to enterprise BCP/DR programs, recovery exercises, failover testing, and resilience assessments.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or cloud-native databases is preferred.
• Knowledge of Linux/Windows, virtualization, storage, and compute infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and DR-aware cloud architectures.
• Knowledge of Shell, PowerShell, or Python scripting.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and client-facing skills.
