Educational Qualification
- Qualifications as per UGC Regulations 2018:
- Assistant Professor (Academic Level 10): Master's Degree with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university + UGC/CSIR NET qualified (or Ph.D. degree compliant with UGC 2009/2016 regulations exempting NET).
- Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A): Ph.D. Degree in concerned discipline + Master's with at least 55% marks + Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience equivalent to Assistant Professor + Minimum 7 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals with total Research Score of 75.
- Professor (Academic Level 14): Eminent scholar with Ph.D. in concerned discipline + Minimum 10 publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals with total Research Score of 120 + Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience as Assistant/Associate Professor with evidence of successfully guided Ph.D. scholars (or outstanding professional with Ph.D. and 10 years industry/institutional experience).

Personal Interview before Statutory Selection Committee
Applications will be screened and shortlisted based on Academic/Research Scores as per UGC Regulations 2018 (Appendix II Table 3A for Assistant Professor; Table 2 Research Scores for Associate Professor and Professor). Shortlisted candidates will be invited for seminar presentation/teaching demonstration and personal interview before the statutory Selection Committee at TISS. Selection is based strictly on merit evaluated in the interview.

Academic Record & Research Score (UGC Regulations 2018) Academic screening score calculated as per UGC Appendix II (Table 3A for Assistant Professor; Table 2 Research Score minimum 75 for Associate Professor and 120 for Professor).
Quality of Research Publications & Citations Peer-reviewed, UGC-CARE, Scopus, or Web of Science indexed journal publications, authored academic books, book chapters, and sponsored research projects.
Pedagogical Leadership & Teaching Demonstration Classroom teaching competence, curriculum design aligned with NEP 2020 (LOCF, CBCS, NCrF), multidisciplinary pedagogy, and presentation before faculty experts.
Domain Mastery & Interview Performance Subject expertise, research vision for TISS off-campuses, doctoral candidate supervision capability, and performance in personal interview before the Selection Committee.

Application Procedure
- Visit the official portal of Tata Institute of Social Sciences at www.tiss.ac.in and navigate to www.tiss.ac.in/acad-positions .
- Register on the online recruitment portal using an active email ID and mobile number.
- Fill in complete personal, academic, research score, publication, and teaching experience details. Separate applications must be submitted if applying for multiple posts.
Upload scanned self-attested copies of all educational marksheets/degrees (Matriculation onwards), Ph.D. degree certificate/exemption certificate, NET/SLET/SET certificate, experience certificates, research publication proofs, and valid category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD).
- Pay the prescribed non-refundable application fee (₹2,000/- for UR; ₹1,500/- for OBC/EWS/Women; ₹1,000/- for SC/ST; ₹500/- for PwBD) through the online payment gateway.
Submit the completed application form online on or before 3rd November 2026 . Keep a printed copy of the final submitted form and email confirmation for future reference. Hard copies are not required to be sent.
