Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess: (1) A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) is admissible for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and PwBD candidates of Uttar Pradesh; AND (2) Cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET, OR awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016. Candidates who registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009 are exempted from NET/SLET subject to UGC fulfillment conditions. Alternatively, candidates who obtained a Ph.D. degree from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 in World University Rankings (by QS, THE, or ARWU) qualify directly.

Selection is based on a combined score out of 400 marks: (1) Objective Type Written Examination of 360 marks consisting of 120 multiple-choice questions (30 questions on General Knowledge / General Studies and 90 questions on the concerned subject) conducted over 2 hours on OMR sheets with negative marking (+3 marks for correct answer, -1 mark deduction for wrong answer); and (2) Personal Interview of 40 marks conducted at UPESSC office, Prayagraj. Final merit ranking is compiled out of 400 marks, followed by online counseling and college preference allotment by the Directorate of Higher Education, UP.

How to Apply
Application Procedure
Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the official UPESSC portal at www.upessc.up.gov.in before initiating the application process.
Log in using OTR credentials, select Advertisement No. 04/2026 for Assistant Professor, and fill in personal, academic, and category details in English.
Upload scanned documents in prescribed formats: signature on white background in JPG/JPEG format (10 KB to 200 KB, 140×110 pixels), passport-sized photograph (30 KB to 300 KB, 300 to 600 pixel resolution), and all relevant educational/caste certificates in PDF format (50 KB to 500 KB).
- Pay the requisite application fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking (₹2,000 for UR/OBC/EWS, ₹1,500 for SC/ST, ₹1,000 for Divyangjan/PwD) and download the fee payment receipt.
Submit the completed online application before the deadline of 07 October 2026 and download three printed copies of the final submitted application form (two copies must be produced with original documents during the interview stage).
